Energy Storage Inspection 2024: Fronius Once Again Among the Best

Fronius GEN24 Plus and the BYD Battery-Box Premium: This duo secures a spot in the top 3 in the Energy Storage Inspection 2024. Conducted annually by HTW Berlin, the inspection is considered Europe's most important study on the topic of system efficiency for PV storage systems.

Fronius values this independent study highly, as it considers not only the inverter conversion efficiency but also all relevant losses of a storage system, enabling a holistic assessment. This increases transparency and allows installers and their clients to make a fair comparison of different systems. Overall, the Fronius GEN24 Plus and BYD Battery-Box Premium duo has been among the most efficient solutions for the fifth consecutive year.

The year 2024 starts well for Fronius inverters GEN24 and GEN24 Plus, as Julian Poßegger from Technical Support at Fronius proudly confirms.

 

J. Poßegger: Indeed, we have two reasons to celebrate. Firstly, in January, the 500,000th GEN24 rolled off the production line at our facility in Sattledt. Secondly, we are delighted with the recent top rankings achieved by the GEN24 Plus in the Energy Storage Inspection by HTW Berlin.

 

Why are the results of the Energy Storage Inspection so important for Fronius?

 

J. Poßegger: They are crucial for our customers. The Energy Storage Inspection tests and evaluates the interaction between battery storage and hybrid inverter by an independent institute. For current and potential Fronius customers, our result means that choosing the combination of Fronius GEN24 Plus and BYD Battery-Box Premium is an excellent and particularly efficient choice.

 

What does this mean in concrete terms?

 

J. Poßegger: Technically, both products are convincing on their own as well as together. Fronius Multi Flow Technology allows simultaneous battery charging and supplying household consumers from the PV system, even in case of a power outage. Together, the two components shine, especially in terms of system efficiency and high charging and discharging capabilities – as confirmed by the independent Energy Storage Inspection by HTW Berlin.

 

Many people prefer a system from a single manufacturer. Why is the combination of Fronius GEN24 Plus and BYD Battery-Box Premium recommended for them?

 

J. Poßegger: It's important to understand who is looking for what advantages. For instance, the installer wants a single point of contact for the entire PV system in case of a service issue. The system owner wants all components of their PV system displayed in one tool. Thanks to our long-standing collaboration with BYD and regular communication, we can provide both.

In Europe, we have been working successfully with EFT-Systems, the European support partner of BYD, for a long time. The error codes – known as State Codes – of the BYD Battery-Box Premium are integrated into our system and can be read at any time. This allows us to provide quick and uncomplicated support in case of service issues.

For the commissioning of the BYD battery, there is a dedicated app from BYD, but its energy flows, including the charge status, are also integrated into our monitoring tool, Fronius Solar.web.
