"I see my new role as both a great responsibility and an opportunity," says Harald Scherleitner. "Welding technology is facing key challenges that we can only overcome together at European level - first and foremost the shortage of skilled workers, the need to reduce CO₂ and the continuous improvement of occupational safety in the welding profession."
He is particularly focused on promoting young talent and making the welding profession more attractive. At the same time, he wants to further strengthen the role of welding technology as a key technology for a sustainable industrial future.
With his many years of experience, Harald Scherleitner not only has expertise in welding technology, but also a sound understanding of the fields of photovoltaics and battery charging technology for intralogistics. This technological breadth enables him to think outside the box. As EWA President, he can thus build important bridges - between traditional industry and modern energy technology, between craftsmanship and digitalization, between ecological responsibility and economic efficiency.
