Rosenbauer International AG, Austria
Manufacturers are coming up against increasingly more challenging requirements in the production of special vehicles. Restricted space, complex components, the increased use of aluminium and stainless steel as well as constant cost pressures demand extremely efficient manufacturing processes using high-performance technology. New joining processes, such as bonding or punch riveting, are coming into play more frequently, competing with conventional welding processes.
“The TPS/i enables us to weld visible weld seams quickly and cleanly. This eliminates the time-consuming process of changing devices or the power source.” Walter Wolfesberger, head of prefabrication at Rosenbauer International AG.
Rosenbauer is focusing on improving its welding processes and is carrying out tests to directly compare systems from a variety of manufacturers, including the innovative TPS/i MIG/MAG power source platform from Fronius. It did not take long for Rosenbauer to opt for the international technology leader’s welding system. The TPS/i’s ability to weld visible weld seams quickly, cleanly and easily won much admiration: weld seams of this type previously had to be produced using the costly TIG process. The clear user interface is also easy to get to grips with. The LSC (Low Spatter Control) welding process developed for the TPS/i uses a special algorithm to harness the extremely high computing power and control precision of the power source and provides the welder with an even more stable arc with minimum spatter ejection. Difficult changes in position on complex components can thus be tackled with relative ease.
